Originally constructed as a fraternity in 1929, 211 Park Street has operated as the Afro-American Cultural Center since the 1970s and hosts a wide diversity of University and community events.

Planning for the eventual renovations of the building began with a Feasibility Study / Condition Assessment Study with detailed code analysis to document building and infrastructure changes required to address utilities, deferred maintenance and programmatic updates.

The ensuing comprehensive renovation included new MEP and FP systems, new utilities, code compliance, all new finishes and architectural modifications in support of code and program needs. The project required several modifications to the State Building and State Fire Codes.
