Given their age and architectural expression houses of worship are among the most vulnerable of historic buildings. Current congregations are often challenged by the need to undertake significant repairs in an era of dwindling membership and capital reserves. Institutional memory for prior work is often tied to volunteer congregation members and records are not always easy to trace.
Over the years we have worked with many congregations to identify current conditions; to develop budgets for identified repairs / restoration work and to prioritize and package the work to maximize the best value and to undertake a logical construction sequence for repairs. We recognize the challenges of capital needs and work with congregations to help the develop a familiarity with grant programs and how best to leverage grant sources for a phased approach to restoration.
