Sara O. Nelson, AIA

Sara Nelson received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Wellesley College and Master’s of Architecture Degree from the University of Virginia where she also completed graduate level study of landscape architecture and architectural history. A careful listener she seeks and balances the unique input of project owners with all project consultants and has considerable experience leading the large and multi-disciplinary teams required by complex state, municipal and institutional projects.
In 2012 she was appointed by Governor Dannel P. Malloy to chair the Connecticut State Historic Preservation Council. She is a former chair of the Guilford Local Historic District Commission and has served in many capacities for a number of organizations related to the arts, preservation and health care.
When not working she spends her free time kayaking New England Coastal waters and training her English Springer Spaniel puppy in a variety of obedience classes.
Thomas D. Edwards, AIA

Thomas D. Edwards received a Bachelor of Architecture degree and Master of Arts degree from Kansas State University and a Master’s of Fine Arts from Yale University where he was awarded the Elizabeth Canfield Hicks Memorial award.
As an artist and architect his residential design work is both responsive to client needs and reflects a high degree of originality with emphasis on the craftsmanship of building. He has extensive experience designing and overseeing residential projects in the complicated regulatory environment of the coastal waterfront. His residential projects have been published in Fine Homebuilding, CT Magazine and trade journals, and have received award from the CT Homebuilders Association.
An award-wining artist, Mr. Edwards’ work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, and is part of many public and private collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York) and the National Museum of American Art (Washington). He has been a Visiting Artist or Lecturer at Kansas State University, Wesleyan University and is currently a faculty lecturer and adjunct professor of Art at Central Connecticut State University. His art is also evident in our firm’s annual holiday card tradition
Laura Boyer, AIA
Project Manager
Laura Boyer received both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Architecture degrees from Yale University and has over twenty-five years designing, managing and consulting on residential, institutional, municipal and historic preservation projects. She maintains a particular interest in the intersection of building design with material science and performance. She currently co-chairs AIA Connecticut’s Committee on the Environment.
Her teaching experience includes four years as a lecturer at the Yale School of Architect where she co-taught the course ‘Critical Systems: Materials and Methods’ and served on studio juries. Her volunteer work includes serving on the Board of Directors for the Institute Library in New Haven where she currently chairs the Building Committee. She is proficient in French and, when not engaged in all things architecture, spends time pursuing her creative interests singing in an a capella chorus, cooking, photography and sculpture.
